Calgary based grade 6 student Logan Fyke recently wrapped up a special fundraising campaign,
selling his handmade flies. Logan worked hard at the vise to create the flies, which included woolly buggers and stonefly nymphs, and created a diorama, complete with a miniature fly fisherman and shrubbery, to display his creations. A testimonial included on the diorama evidenced that Logan’s flies do indeed catch fish! Country Pleasures Fly Shop partnered with Logan to sell his flies, and matched the sales, with all of the proceeds donated to TUC.
Logan is passionate about fishing and wanted to help support TUC’s conservation initiatives. This campaign fit well into his Community Support Program at school, which encourages students to find ways to give back to the community. Logan sold his flies at $3 apiece and was able to raise $245!
Logan dropped by the office on May 26th to present TUC with the funds raised, and went home with some TUC swag and many thanks from the TUC staff.
Full marks from TUC on this campaign Logan!
