Why Plant Trees?

A fall riparian tree planting will speed recovery by preventing erosion of soil, establishing more root structure on the bank, minimize siltation in the stream, providing shade to the creek and encouraging riparian food webs high in biodiversity. Trees and shrubs have deeper roots that grasses and may help to further stabilize the soil on the stream banks. This will also provide shade which can reduce stream temperature, drop leaves and insects into the stream and eventually provide large woody debris. Native species with high tolerance to soil moisture were selected as the site is located in the floodplain of the river.

This event is open to Trout Unlimited Canada members only if you would like to become a member please visit our website. This planting is on private property, and the exact location will be emailed to you after signing up, a few days before the event.

Thanks for your help!
