TD Friends of the Environment supports Yellow Fish Road program in the City of Calgary.
TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) has been supporting Trout Unlimited Canada’s Yellow Fish Road program in Calgary for over five years.
They support hundreds of local organizations that share common goals, strengthening the Calgary community. The TD FEF focusses their community support on urban greening, stewardship of the environment and promoting environmental education. Even though Calgary is known for its clean and healthy freshwater ecosystems, there is increasing pressure on our water resources from pollution, urbanization, and overuse. One of the biggest threats is non-point source or storm water pollution. This includes runoff containing lawn chemicals, soap, garbage, dog feces and sediment that enters the storm drain system and flows into our rivers. With support from TD FEF we have been able to provide many presentations throughout the city especially under-served areas, groups and schools in Calgary that are not receiving this critical message. The Yellow Fish Road education program works to improve water quality, enhance stormwater management, and protect and restore our waterways, one storm drain at a time. The YFR program creates awareness that motivates a water stewardship ethic among individuals, communities, and businesses that inspire simple changes in daily behaviors and actions.
