TUC Welcomes a New Chapter

Extra, extra read all about it. TUC welcomes a new Chapter in 2020!

TUC would like to extend a very warm welcome to our newest Chapter, the Musquodoboit River Chapter, based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Musquodoboit River Chapter will focus first on the Musquodoboit River watershed. The chapter’s particular areas of interest include conserving and protecting the waters, habitats, and native fish species this area supports, including Atlantic salmon, and other salmonids.

TUC staff had the chance to chat with a number of the executives of the new Chapter.  It is clear they are a group of passionate scientists and citizens from the local community who have an interest in conserving, protecting, and restoring wild fish and their habitats. The chapter is actively working on-site assessment and restoration of the Musquodoboit River. This includes assessing the population of fish species, bringing awareness to any culverts requiring repairs to transportation and infrastructure renewal and developing a geographic information system database.

The Chapter already has an active Facebook Page. Keep an eye on their page for upcoming events is a great way to see what they have coming up!
